Now with the power to back up its aggressive aesthetics, meet the all-new, 550 horsepower, supercharged V8-powered 2020 Range Rover Velar SVAutobiography. With the same 5.0L engine as the Range Rover Sport SVR and the Jaguar F-Type R, this is Land Rover's most powerful Velar to date.
The 2020 Velar SVAutobiography receives a facelifted front bumper, with bigger grills to aid cooling and less protruding lines to create a more uniform, aggressive front fascia. With bigger and lighter wheels, forged alloy 21" wheels now come standard on all Velar SV's to help with handling and agility. For an even more aggressive look, buyers can also opt for the 22" diamond-turned wheels as an add-on.
Perhaps the most noticeable aesthetic change comes from the rear, however. With 4 massive exhaust tips built into the rear diffuser (and we mean MASSIVE), a quick glance of the rear of the new Velar SV and you'll be able to tell that this car packs a punch. Luckily, the new engine in this car can back up its aggressive looks.
With a purposely tuned, 5.0L V8 supercharged engine, the 2020 Velar SV has 500 horsepower and 502 lb-ft of torque, pushing the car from 0 to 100km/h in an insanely quick 4.5 seconds. The familiar V8 engine, borrowed from the Velar SV's older brother, is mated to an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission to power all four wheels, topping out at 274km/h (due to its electronics).
The interior of the new Velar SV remains mostly the same from first glance, with the exception of the beautiful diamond quilted and perforated "Windsor" leather seats. With 20 different ways to adjust these seats (overkill, but we love it), you'll now also get memory, heating, cooling and, our absolute favourite, massage settings as standard. Passengers in the back aren't forgotten about, either, as the rear seats recline and have heating as standard as well.
Touch materials have also been upgraded too, with older plastics on the paddle shifters and control dials being replaced with hefty aluminum.
The 2020 Velar SVAutobiography has been given lots of love and refinement by its creators to differentiate this model from the rest. Even more so, Land Rover states this vehicle will only be available for one year before it is discontinued. Speculation also suggests this may potentially be the last V8 engine to be offered by the company.
